The Wicklow room

Wicklow is one of the 32 counties of Ireland. The name comes from the Old Norse word Víkingaló, which means “Vikings’ meadow”. In the 9th century Viking longships regularly raided the east coast of Ireland from their bases in what is now Scandinavia. Later they established bases in Ireland, in what became the port cities of Dublin, Wexford, Waterford, and Cork. Many Irish people have Viking ancestry.
